Christmas is Not Your Birthday
Because we all know that unless you're Jimmy Buffet, Jesus, or Conrad Hilton, Christmas is not your birthday. And, we also know that every step we take to save the planet is a good one. And, we know that the current economic environment didn't magically make our gift list any shorter.
We also know (we hope you know, at least) that CoolPeopleCare is here to help.
In 2008, Christmas is still not your birthday. But it's a heck of a chance to save the world.
So, beginning on Friday, November 7 (and continuing each Friday until Christmas), we'll showcase one item you can buy that special someone to help them go green this holiday season. Each item will reduce their carbon footprint, keep coal in the ground, conserve water, or pollute less. Each item will be affordable and most will even be stocking-sized.
While these ideas are easy, it's time we all began to enact them. And while these ideas may not be as sleek as an iPod or as trendy as a video game, they're all still way cool.
Better yet, each Friday, as part of the 5 Minutes of Caring Article, we'll include a 4"x6" downloadable gift tag that you can include with the gift. Because let's face it – most people will be confused when they open their present from you to find something like a power strip. At least they will until they read that they could save nearly $100 in 2009 by using it. (And if you need cards and envelopes to include with these gift tags, we've got that covered, too, of course.)
No one necessarily likes to get coal in their stocking, but it will always be cool to keep coal in the ground by saving energy and helping the environment in the process. So, come along for the journey and make Christmas not your birthday this year. Join us each Friday between now and Christmas as we highlight one small, important gift to give someone this year.
Because ultimately, the holidays should be less about wanting our own stuff and instead about helping someone get their (environmental) stuff together.
