Join Cool People Care’s Sam Davidson and Stephen Moseley as they riff on social media and how it relates to nonprofits. For the past two years, these guys have been talking about Generation Y, online branding, blogging, Facebook, Twitter and nearly everything else that might be giving you a headache.

So, sign up for summer camp today. Leave the sunscreen, marshmallows and water wings at home.

Bring your thinking caps, big questions and fresh ideas and see what happens in just four weeks! All sessions take place at Laskey C at Scarritt Bennett Center. Click here for a map and (free) parking instructions.

For questions or to register offline, contact Sam Davidson at (615) 260-3082.

Summer Camp Schedule
Monday, July 6
8:00 AM-9:30 AM and 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
TWITTER 101 - It's hot, it has grown at roughly 1000% year-over-year, and Oprah's doing it. Are you? Should you be? In this fast-paced session, Sam and Stephen will talk about the what and the why of Twitter and why it might be worth your while to broadcast messages about your nonprofit, 140 characters at a time.

10:00 AM-11:00 AM and 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
TWITTER 201 - You're already on Twitter, but you're not quite sure how to really use it to raise money, recruit volunteers or generate buzz. Don't freak out. After these 60 minutes, you'll see some great examples of nonprofits in the direct service, arts and advocacy worlds and you'll even have some ideas to implement when you get back to your office. Or from the parking lot via your cell phone right after it's over.

Monday, July 13
8:00 AM-9:30 AM and 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
SOCIAL NETWORKING 101 - What do MySpace, Facebook and Ning have in common? You probably should be checking them out, building networks, becoming a cause and recruiting fans. And if you didn't understand any of that, you will after just 90 minutes. We'll cover the ins and outs of how nonprofits can get set up on Facebook and get started generating buzz among people who might be interested in your work.

10:00 AM-11:00 AM and 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
SOCIAL NETWORKING 201 - Set yourself up as a cause but haven't raised any money yet? Trying to navigate the sludge of MySpace? In just 60 short minutes, we'll highlight ways that some nonprofits have used social networking to find new donors, volunteers and supporters and how some have raised awareness by having other people talk about them.

Monday, July 20
8:00 AM-9:30 AM and 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
BLOGGING 101 - You know what it is now, but you're not sure if you or your organization should be doing it. In this session, we'll showcase how easy and cheap (free, even) it is to start a blog and even share ideas to get your blogging off the ground and out into the open. We'll also talk about why your blog should not be a place to put press releases and whether or not it's worth your CEO's time to blog.

10:00 AM-11:00 AM and 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
BLOGGING 201 - Now that you're all set up with your blog and have it linked to your site, how can you really use it to be found on the Web? In just an hour, we'll highlight successful examples of nonprofits who blog and help you wrap your head around using this powerful medium to tell stories so that you'll recruit new donors, volunteers and friends. Bonus: Free SEO advice. Not sure what SEO is? Stick around to find out why being authentic gives you the best chance at being discovered online.

Monday, July 27
8:00 AM-9:30 AM and 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
ONLINE BRANDING 101 - Your digital presence extends far beyond your Web site, and it now includes things like a YouTube channel, a Giving Matters profile, and even a Cool People Care partner page. But what should it all say? And how do you keep it all in sync? In this session, we'll talk through who should be managing your online presence, how easy it can be to keep track of things, and what kind of time and cost you can expect to invest in all things digital.

10:00 AM-11:00 AM and 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
ONLINE BRANDING 201 - It's getting crowded on the Web and it's harder than ever to be heard when so many voices seem to be competing for so few dollars. Regardless of what medium you're using, and regardless of your budget size, this session will showcase nonprofits that have successfully grown their online brand to increase their impact. You'll leave full of ideas and inspiration to grow your digital footprint.
