By not using your electric or gas-powered dryer for a month, you can save $45, and you keep 15 pounds of coal in the ground.

Use your dryer less. With the weather getting warmer, the time and climate is just about right to hang your clothes outside. If you don't have a yard and a handy clothesline, string one up in your living room, or invest in a drying rack. By not using your electric or gas-powered dryer for a month, you can save $45, and you keep 15 pounds of coal in the ground. That extra $45 you save can go to a really great organization that raises awareness about the environment. Drying your clothes the old-fashioned way has never been so efficient.

We have been drying clothes without the dryer for several years. My husband recently told our teenager that we would stop when the mortgage was paid in full. My response- You think I do this for the money??!!
