Homeless Awareness Week

November 12-18 is National Homeless Awareness Week.

Spread the word this week about homelessness in an attempt to eradicate it. Each year, countless organizations and individuals spearhead campaigns in their local communities to get the word out about homelessness. The National Coalition for the Homeless has a manual you can download to help you educate those around you about this overwhelming epidemic. Homelessness is something that also affects health care and economics, so educating yourself this week about this issue will open your eyes to other needs. Make it your goal to learn about a local organization addressing this problem in your neck of the woods.

As someone who has volunteered and worked towards eliminating homelessness for a few years now (specifically ending homelessness among the elderly - visit www.hearth-home.org), I was very happy to receive this 5 Minutes of Caring!
