5 minutes of caring

Computer Naps

Sleeping machines are energy saving machines.

Take a quick minute and check on the energy settings of the computer you're using. Most machines have the ability to put the monitor, hard drive or processor to sleep when not in use (for PCs, right click on the desktop and click on screen saver). If you're not surfing the web for hours at a time, set your monitor to rest after 5 minutes of inactivity. And, when you're ready to leave work for the day, turn off your PC or Mac. Doing so will use 80% less electricity and cut CO2 emissions by more than 1,000 pounds.

I asked the owner of our company if we could purchase a set of inexpensive dishes that are microwave safe, but not plastic, along with a set of cutlery dishes. I explained that this will cut down on waste...and save the company money. Everyone can take a turn washing the dishes.
