Go Loco

Sure It's Crazy, But It Just Might Work

For years now drivers have been incentivized by HOV lanes, and more often than not, carpoolers knew one another. But what if you don't know anyone who's going the same direction? GoLoco is an improbable idea that combines the environmental need to burn fewer fossil fuels with the social impact of meeting and knowing our neighbors. You can find folks running the same errands as you and save on gasoline and wear and tear. Though not for everyone (and not nearly everywhere) this idea definitely has legs, er, wheels.

I most certainly would share a ride with a stranger, especially if they drove something really cool.

I looked on the Go Loco site, but I couldn't figure out which areas of the country people are using it in. Does anyone know? Are they in TN?

Hey Gretchen, have you checked out GishiGo website for rideshare. I use it all the time, and announce my rideshare on Craigslist and MySpace. This Gishigo helps me formalize things and really helps me build confidence in the other people. If they seem reluctant in putting up their 99cents, and exchanging their id, then it's good knowledge!

strange how this new site "GoLoco" smells like "GishiGo" website that's been around for a couple years? hmmm...

This Goloco site strongly reminds me of http://www.ridester.com - a site that sprung up last year. I read about Ridester in a Time mag article, and tried to get a ride through them, but no luck. However my room mate was able to get a ride up to the Bay Area using Ridester and says it was pretty interesting, compared to riding Greyhound I still find that Craiglist works best for last minute rides, but maybe I'm just asking to get axe-murdered.
