5 minutes of caring
Juneteenth
|
No, it's not how your teenager plans meetings. If you are unaware, today is an important day. 142 years ago today, the last slaves were emancipated in the US. Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was issued nearly 3 years prior, this day marks the official end of slavery. Thus, today, June 19 is called Juneteenth to commemorate the occasion. However, slavery still exists in our world today. You can use the lessons learned from American slavery and do your part to help eradicate its existence now. Sign a petition, donate money and spread the word to others that modern day slavery must end. Make Juneteenth happen everywhere.
