Play Pumps
|
Water can be fun. Forty billion hours are lost each year due to a worldwide problem: no access to clean water. Half the people in developing countries are suffering from water-related diseases. Thanks to an innovative water pump these astonishing statistics can change. Doubling as a water pump and merry-go-round for children, the PlayPump System provides easy access to clean water, brings joy to children and helps improve developing countries. Installed near schools, these water pumps are powered by children. Your support can help build 4,000 PlayPumps in sub-Saharan Africa by 2010, providing clean water and playground equipment for communities in desperate need.

I put it on my blog. As someone who works with 2 different NGOs in Haiti, makes frequent trips the do medical clinic work in Haiti, and whose family lives in a very poor village in Nigeria, I really appreciate what playpumps is doing.
