The Book (Doesn't) Stop Here
Read and pass. Repeat. A few weeks ago, we suggested you buy a book for a friend. Today, we improve upon that suggestion with a 'novel' (get it?) idea that saves you money and makes you look like a nice person: simply pass on a book you've read to someone else. While you'll seem extra friendly, you'll also be saving paper. Since so many books are only read once and then forgotten on a bookshelf somewhere, this sharing process makes the words more alive than ever. Sure, it may cut down on our sales a bit, but it's all for the greater good.

Thanks to Mindi for the links. And thanks to Thomas for this idea. Hannah commented, on October 24, 2007 at 12:54 a.m.: I actually saw a book with a bookcrossing label in my local bagel shop waiting to be found! Although I wasn't very interested in the title, I was really interested in the concept. Now I just need to go through my book collection and release them into the wild! Debbie commented, on October 25, 2007 at 7:15 a.m.: I have been sharing and giving away books for years. My mom had a tradition of always giving one special book to me each year for Christmas, and it just stuck. At work, we have a "Book Nook" in the break room where people can trade, share, and borrow books. It's a huge success. Rebecca commented, on November 23, 2007 at 2:01 p.m.: I've never kept books, instead always passing them on so others could read them. The older I get, the less I want to do this. Now I want to hoard them on the shelves, to keep my history, to have things. Thanks for the reminder. Post a commentYou must be a registered user to post comments. |
