Get the Lead Out

Lead: Good in pencils, bad in paint.

Lead is something that we all know something about. It's not good when found in paint, so make sure to watch out when renovating an old house. It's also not good in toys, so make sure the kiddos aren't playing with any of those. But like anything, we've got to make sure to see beyond bold headlines and accurately examine the real threat. This is exactly what National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week is all about. By spending a few minutes learning the real threats that face your home, you'll make sure you can live a long and lead-free life.

Because your blog reaches many concerned parents we wanted to tell you about this campaign first! We need your help to spread the word around! Let's work together to show retailers we're serious about safety.

This year Consumers Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports, has launched the "Get the Lead Out This Holiday Season" campaign.

So far this year more than 20 million toys have been recalled – and that's not including all the other hazardous products. If you are left feeling a bit scared and confused shopping for loved ones this holiday season – you are not alone.
