Ditch the Dryer Sheet

Save some clothes washing waste with a simple household tip.

They may seem small, but all those dryer sheets we use to eliminate static add up over the years. Here is a great way to cut those out of your routine to reduce waste and save some money:

Take a washcloth and squirt about two tablespoons of liquid fabric softener on it and let it dry. Throw the cloth in with your clothes to be dried, and you'll see the same results as those single-use sheets. Each squirt will last about 4-6 loads.

Feel free to send us your tips to save the world and we'll feature them here!

I have struggled with this one for ages. What a green way to get through the day without my skirt clinging to me like I've been doused. Now to figure out how to get rid of cling AND the dryer!

I love this idea - I had stopped using dryer sheets completely years ago but missed the effect they have on towels, especially. Great solution!

We stopped using dryer sheets years ago due to our daughters' eczema. The chemicals used in the scents are actually very irritating to skin. I've found that baking soda and white vinegar added to the washer make a nice cleaning booster and fabric softener. The result is a very fresh-smelling load of laundry.

We had to stop using a lot of artifical products, due to mine and my children's allergies and sinus/headache issues.
We went back to 'nature' doing the baking soda and vinegar to the washer for years. Grandma's remedies do come in handy when everything else fails!
