Putting your leaves in the right bag is important.

You may have already raked your leaves for the season, but if you haven't, make sure you're bagging them correctly. Each municipality is different in terms of how and when it collects your yard work, but if you're the bagging type, grab a set of compostable bags instead of the plastic ones. This way, those rotting leaves will be useful, instead of trapped forever inside a plastic bag. If you want extra points, compost the leaves yourself and leave the bag out entirely.
