A Complaint Free World
Our perspective can change the way we save the world. I remember sitting in my friends house and seeing a fuchsia bracelet on her arm and asking, "What's that?" She told me a friend of hers at work had given it to her and gave me a brief rundown of the concept. She told me that she wears this bracelet on one arm; if she complains she has to switch arms. The idea is that if we do anything for 28 days it becomes a habit, so if we go without complaining for 28 days we can take the bracelet off. I quickly got excited. Now this was months ago, as I wrote about this idea at last year's end, but something about this idea has hit me again recently. I contacted AComplaintFreeWorld.org in January and took about three months to get a full 28 days. I realized in the process that it wasn't just about complaining, but also about focusing on other people's behaviors. So if my husband complained about something and did not switch his bracelet and I told him, then I had to switch mine. Finally made it the 28 days and felt a great sense of accomplishment. I had not complained for four full weeks. What a feat! I've heard it said, "Keep your own side of the street clean and leave others to clean theirs." I have always struggled with that when it comes to even the best intentions. Over the past few weeks I have really been in a place of learning and am seeing these concepts rising again. Thinking positively and cleaning my side of the street are my intentions. As I do them, I am making a difference in the world around me because I am giving off a more positive energy and am allowing people the dignity to make their own mistakes and find their own solutions. What a gift! So in thinking what I would write about today I was brought back to positive thinking. To save the world I have to BELIEVE it is possible! And it is! We must think positively and look at our own actions to make any lasting change. So today, I am striving to believe that all the goals we seek to accomplish in the name of "World Saving" come from a positive outlook and a firm resolve that we CAN do it. It really is all about perspective. If I am looking at all I can't do, then I am overwhelmed by immobility, whereas if I am focused on all I could do I am motivated to action.

Great message, Michelle. As usual:-)
Today I am celebrating results (I just received this morning) from a breast biopsy I had last Thursday. The 2 inch tumor is BENIGN. I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from my shoulders..... which prompted me to comment today.
I have complained a lot lately about the unfairness of many of life's 'happenings', the (sometimes unbearable) challenges that kind, caring, wonderful people are faced with and there not being answers to why there is so much sickness and struggles in the world.
Starting today, I am following your lead and just put on a bracelet (one I had already). My "complaint bracelet". I'll let you know how well I do with this, after 28 days..... Thank you for the inspiration!
