5 MINUTES OF CARING

How to Sound Nice

Follow your hello with some courtesy.

Use this script when the phone rings:

Caller: Hello, can I speak to you?
You: That's me.
Caller: Do you want to buy some crap I'm selling?
You: No, thank you. [I'm not interested in that.][]
Caller: But what if I sweeten the deal with more crap for the same price?
You: Again, no thanks. But thanks for calling. I have to go now. Bye.
Caller: Bye.

We're not saying you have to love telemarketing calls, but you can at least be nice on the phone. Treating everyone with respect makes our planet a happier place to live.

Whenever they call and I tell them that I don't want whatever it is they are selling, I always make a point to say "Have a nice night/day".
