Potty Policy

Where do you go to the bathroom?

At Cool People Care, we'll never demand that you alter your bathroom-related habits. That's too personal a domain for us to be authoritative. But, we will highlight how a few changes make a big difference. For example, flushing the toilet one less time per day could save more than 1,100 gallons of water a year. It's up to you how you save that flush. As this creative cartoon from Brazil reminds children, you'll also be saving the rain forest.

Who's willing to try? Share in the comments about your potty policy and you could win one of our shirts!

"If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down."

We've taken on the "thirds" approach. Every three bathroom trips gets the flush. Of course that applies to number one only. In an old house with 1.6 gallon toilets, I'm guessing we save close to 3,000 gallons of water per year. Try it folks...not nearly as gross as it seems.

We've been talking about getting a dual flush toliet, but hadn't seen them at any of the usual home improvement stores. We happened to be at Sam's the other day and they had them for about $100.00. That is what I got for my birthday this year.

We live out in the country where we have a septic tank. Since you can't flush toilet paper, it tends to be a "flush only when absolutely necessary" policy. Needless to say, the "if it's yellow let it mellow" policy is quite upheld.

I tend not to flush at night. this started because I did not want to wake my room mate, but I just realized I can both conserve water and keep up the love between room mates.
