The Franklin Farmers' Market has all the good stuff you crave because of what it is: A market made up of family farmers, selling fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers and farm goods. There's no trucked-in produce from Florida or out west. These are local farmers, selling what they have grown, as it ripens during Tennessee's long growing season. And because it is a seasonal market, the variety of veggies and goods fresh from the farms increases and changes each week.
However, the Franklin Farmers' Market does more than just satisfy your taste buds. It helps to keep Tennessee's beautiful farmlands green and growing. The non-profit Franklin Farmers' Market organization believes that local family farms can remain successful with support from the market to stay productive. Additionally, the market works to educate about the significance of farming in Middle Tennessee. Planning for the future of agriculture is just as important as planning for urban development. By doing so, both the economic and environmental structures of Middle Tennessee communities become stronger. Family Friendly Fun This year we are are happy to announce a number of initiatives that will make your shopping experience even more fun and family friendly. You are the reason we show up every Saturday and we hope you like what we have done. First, we have extended the hours from 8 AM to 1 PM. For the families who have lots to do on a Saturday morning, we hope this will make it a bit easier for you to get out for Market Day. When you arrive, there will be live entertainment and fresh prepared food to satisfy your immediate hunger pains. Our Children's Garden will be expanded this year and will be staffed with a Kidz Kaptain who will offer some activities and supervision for your children. Throughout the season we have scheduled special events that involve all ages in healthy old fashion fun. Our music line-up has changed a bit too. For the early risers, you can still enjoy the bluegrass charm of the Franklin Square Pickers. At 10:45 we will have a variety of local acoustic performers and special performances from local dance and theater troupes. So plan on bringing your family and friends to the Franklin Farmers Market and make Saturday mornings your market day where fresh food and family fun come together.
