Fundraiser to support research on the reintegration of former child soldiers in Sierra Leone.

As the hype to support vulnerable children in conflict regions of the world dwindles, thousands of kids are dealing with the after math of their experiences. The resilience of these children has been found to play a powerful role in their integration back into society. However, the reality is that these children are being ostracized from their communities because of the stigma attached to their position in the war. This summer, Brandi Harless, will assist a research group from Harvard in finalizing the plans for providing mental health and social services to these children and informing a nationwide policy on supporting these kids.

    Rocketown began with the recognition that teens need a place to go that is not only safe, alcohol and drug free, but a place where they would also WANT to be. In 2003, the vision became reality. Within a year’s time an average of 1,350 kids a week started coming through the doors to participate in activities they love – dancing, skating, listening to live music, and hanging out with friends.
