New York Junior League Mother’s Day Race 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
|
The New York Junior League Mother's Day Race: A Race To Erase Domestic Violence, hosted by the New York Road Runners in conjunction with the NYJL and the Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence, will take place in Central Park.
Races include the Women's 10M, the Co-Ed 4M and kids' races. More than 3,000 people are expected to participate in this year's races. During the event, tents in the Domestic Violence Awareness Pavilion will showcase numerous domestic violence service organizations that provide information on their programs. The Co-Ed 4m race will start the day at 8:00am followed by the 10m that starts at 9:00am, and the kid’s race starts at 9:45am. After the race, there will be an awards ceremony and keynote speaker at the Domestic Violence Awareness Pavilion at the Central Park Bandshell. The New York Junior League is committed to fighting domestic violence and child abuse by educating the community on what can be done to keep families safe. One in four women will experience physical or sexual assault at the hands of an intimate partner, often when children are present or in harm’s way. The NYJL aims to combat these statistics and help erase domestic violence in New York City.
