In 2004, the Alzheimer’s Association presented its inaugural gala in the nation’s capital to raise the profile of Alzheimer’s and its devastating toll on America’s families and to recognize advances in Alzheimer research. In just four years, the National Alzheimer’s Gala has raised $6 million for cutting edge research and critical support services for individuals, families and caregivers facing the daily challenges of the disease. In addition to raising money for caregiving and research, the Gala aims to raise the profile and significance of Alzheimer’s disease among Washington policymakers.
