Tea for Two Celebration at Ten Thousand Villages 10:00 a.m.  –  6:00 p.m.

Sarah Scarborough, of fairtradeteas.com, will be on hand Saturday, May 24, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Tea for Two Celebration, a day devoted to educating shoppers about international tea traditions and the impact of fair trade on tea producers.

As the founder of Fair Trade Teas, Scarborough has employed her commitment to sustainability and fair trade "connecting tea lovers with tea growers to improve the lives of both." At Tea for Two, she will share stories and photographs from her travels to South Africa and South Asia.

While sampling Ten Thousand Villages' rooibos tea, shoppers will learn about the health benefits of the tea and cultural significance of fair trade in South Africa. Drawing on her experiences in South Asia, Scarborough will explain how chai is made and enlighten guests about South Asian traditions of hospitality. Additionally, Scarborough will speak about the differences between small farmers and estate farmers, the health benefits of green tea, and fair trade in Sri Lanka.

A free gift with purchase will be offered, while supplies last.

Ten Thousand Villages of Nashville is located at 3900 Hillsboro Pike, where Abbott Martin Road meets Hillsboro Pike. The store is open Mon – Sat, 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Ten Thousand Villages is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 150 artisan groups in some 36 countries, we are part of a network of more than 145 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products. As one of the world's oldest and largest fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating trading relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work. We seek to establish long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans are under- or unemployed, and in which they lack other opportunities for income.
