AAC workshop at ETTAC 9:00 a.m.  –  3:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, June 4th Renee Anderson from the Prentke Romich Company will be at the East Tennessee Technology Access Center in Knoxville to conduct a free workshop on the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices.

This presentation will focus on strategies to teach and promote the use of communication devices to get students to independently initiate spontaneous speech rather than simply repeating pre-stored sentences. The strategies presented will cover a range of communication ages and abilities, including those at the level of emerging language and literacy. The teaching strategies presented are appropriate for a wide variety of devices and programs. You do not need to bring an AAC device to the workshop.

The workshop is not limited to people using Prentke Romich devices and is appropriate for anyone working with a student using a communication device, including teachers, Speech Language Pathologists, other professionals, and parents. Instructions for creating therapy materials with the PASS software will also be given. ASHA CEUs will be offered at no cost.

The workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Because space is limited, please call ETTAC 865-219-0130 for reservations or further information.

Also please register with Prentke Romich by calling 800-262-1984 or on line at http://www.prentron.com/training/regional.
