The annual Seeds of Hope Garden Tour benefits at-risk youths ages 16-24 who reside at the non-profit Monroe Harding campus in Oak Hill.
The seven gardens on this year’s tour include the Foxwood Road garden of Judith and James Humphreys, the garden of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Williams on Cantrell Avenue, the Tyne Boulevard garden of Will & Carol Vance, Frank and Amy Garrison’s garden on Glen Leven Dr., the Princeton Avenue garden of Greg & Tracy Barton, the garden of Michael and Nina Lindley on Curtiswood Lane and the gardens of the Belmont Mansion. Advance tickets for the June 7 tour (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) may be purchased online for $12 by visiting www.monroeharding.org or by contacting Brandon Tisdale at Monroe Harding at 298-5573 ext. 115 or at brandontisdale@monroeharding.org for more information. Tickets on the day of the tour are $15. A free ticket will be available to volunteers who assist in ticket collection for three hours at one of the gardens. For more information on volunteering, please contact Brandon Tisdale at 298-5573 ext. 115 or at brandontisdale@monroeharding.org. In addition to touring the gardens, visitors are invited to stop by the Garden Shop at Monroe Harding at 1120 Glendale Lane where a variety of garden accessories and gifts for the garden enthusiast will be available. There will also be a delightful luncheon prepared by the Monroe Harding Auxiliary available during the tour day from 11 - 2 at Monroe Harding’s main dining hall. Cost of the lunch is $7. The residential programs at Monroe Harding help create independence for the at-risk youth who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or minor behavioral problems. The residential programs nurture potential through participation in education, vocational and life skills training.
