Have you ever seen a banjo made out of can? You can do this plus more at Kids Fest June 28th at Ijam’s Nature Center in Knoxville. The East Tennessee Technology Access Center’s HeartSong Center for Accessible Music and Art has planned a full day’s line up of art and music activities for kids with and without disabilities.
Musicians and artists include George Reynolds, Stacy McCloud, Fay Campbell, Jeff Comas and the Boomwhackers, Sean Durham, Alice Carroll, and Marshall Andy. Events include a make-and-take instrument workshop, ETTAC’s Learning About Freedom workshop, storytelling with props children can make, folk dancing, nature painting, goofy golf, and a dancing class with the Sunshine Ambassadors. Admission is free. Activities run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Drinks will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch. For more information, please call ETTAC at (865) 219-0130. Kids Fest is being made possible by a generous grant from Variety, the children’s charity of Eastern Tennessee.
