Degas in Bronze: The Complete Sculptures 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
|
French Impressionist Edgar Degas is universally admired as one of the most influential sculptors of the early 20th century. A master of depicting the human figure, Degas worked in many mediums such as paints, charcoals and pastels. Seventy-three sculptures, including The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer, are the focus of this exhibition.
Attracted to scenes of contemporary life, his works depict theaters, cafés, music halls and horse racing. His portraits and studies of dancers and bathers cultivated a complete objectivity, catching his subjects in poses as natural and spontaneous as those recorded in photography.
