Monet: The Gardener 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
|
Although celebrated as a painter, Impressionist master Claude Monet (1840 – 1926) was an extremely knowledgeable and devoted gardener. He often painted his own garden in Giverny with its extensive gardens, water lilies and ponds, and considered his garden his greatest work of art.
This horticultural exhibition honors the spirit of what Monet painted and will display many of the same plant species, colors, textures and combinations that are characteristic of his efforts as a painter and gardener. Display areas of emphasis include the English Perennial Garden, Amphitheater Garden, Volunteer Tribute Garden, Grand Entry Garden, Seasonal Display House, Children’s Garden and Michigan’s Farm Garden.
