4th annual Paddle for Poverty 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
|
Mir Pace International will hold its 4th annual Paddle for Poverty fundraising event at Lincoln Maritime Center (adjacent to the rotary on Route 3A) in Hingham, MA on July 12, 2008.
The Paddle for Poverty is a kayak race (or any type paddleboat), open to all ages, and includes two courses: a long course suitable for more advanced paddlers will begin at 9:00 a.m. and follow a marked course around several of the inner-Hingham Harbor islands; and armed with a small fishing net, the short course paddlers will navigate around markers set in the inner harbor, “saving” as many Mir Pace ducks as possible, bringing them to safety at the finish line. A prize awaits the paddler who saves the most ducks! The pre-race entry fee for both long and short courses is $20, and $25 if registering the day of the race. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. Mir Pace is working in the US, Guatemala, and Tanzania, E. Africa. All proceeds raised through the Paddle for Poverty will help Mir Pace to bring life-saving solutions to children and families in the communities we serve. Registration forms for the Paddle for Poverty are available at www.mirpace.org/Paddle4.htm or by calling 781-925-0090.
