Volunteer: Walden's Puddle Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center 8:00 a.m.  –  8:00 p.m.

Walden's Puddle Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center has openings for volunteers of various skills and levels of time commitment.

Direct Animal Care Volunteer--requires a time commitment of at least one 4-hour shift a week. Will receive one on one, hands on training in handling and basic care of our wild patients.

Hours of need: 8am-8pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Support Animal Care Volunteer--for the person who can't commit to a weekly 4 hour shift. Will receive training in basic support duties and will be responsible for laundry, dish washing, preparing food for diets, sweeping and moping, etc.

Hours of need: 8am-8pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Front Desk/Admissions Volunteer--will return phone calls from the public, schedule appointments and admit animals as the public brings them in. Will receive training and education in natural history. Requires a commitment to a 3-4 hour shift.

Hours of need: 8am-8pm, Tuesday-Sunday, April--October.

Building and Grounds Maintenance Volunteer--will make repairs on our buildings, caging, and equipment on an on-going basis.

Hours of need: Whenever possible -- on-going need.

Education Volunteer--will help with educational programs and informational booths. Some education and training required.

Hours of need: vary with the program schedule.

Rescue Driver Volunteer--will pick-up and transport injured and orphaned wildlife to our facility. Will receive training in capture, handling, and transport of wildlife.

Hours of need: vary--year round.

    Walden's Puddle is the only professionally staffed wildlife rehabilitation and education facility in Middle Tennessee. Our mission is to provide treatment and care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, as well as educational experiences that promote a greater understanding and appreciation for wildlife and its habitat. Every year, 1700-2000 wild animals are admitted to our facility for care and a second chance at life.
