Ten Thousand Villages invites Nashvillians to come in from the heat and celebrate with friends at their Friendship Fiesta, a day dedicated to honoring friendship and fair trade partnerships around the globe. Store volunteers will welcome shoppers to experience one sizzling summer celebration on Saturday, August 2.

William Ramirez and friends will showcase unique Latin instruments while serenading customers from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served all day, including salsa, chips, and refreshing iced tea prepared using Ten Thousand Villages’ fair trade tea selections.

While shopping the store’s new Fiesta Collection, friends may fashion paper into flowers and exchange their creations as tokens of friendship. The Fiesta Collection is a feast of earth-friendly finds including creatively utilized recycled glass, snack wrappers, flip flops and painted, cleverly cut metal fashioned into tableware, mats and wall décor.

Customers purchasing a craft item will receive a FREE Putumayo CD, an upbeat and melodic compilation of great international music from South Africa to Haiti.

“With summer rapidly coming to a close, we think a fiesta is in order, celebrating friends, good times and the festive nature of the summer season,” says Executive Director Lisa Pierce. “Our customers generously support our artisans around the world when purchasing gifts for their friends and family. This fiesta is a celebration of that partnership and friendships near and far.”

Ten Thousand Villages of Nashville is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 36 countries, the Nashville store is part of a network of more than 150 retail outlets throughout the United States. Since 1946, Ten Thousand Villages has been establishing long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans lack opportunities for stable income. All artisans are paid fairly for their products.

Ten Thousand Villages of Nashville is located at 3900 Hillsboro Pike, where Abbott Martin Road meets Hillsboro Pike. The store is open Mon – Sat, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
