2008 Dallas Symphony Orchestra AT&T Opening Gala 6:00 p.m.  –  11:00 p.m.

Welcome to a new era at the Dallas Symphony! The 2008 Dallas Symphony Orchestra AT&T Opening Gala on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 will kick-off the opening of the 2008-2009 Classical Season and will officially launch Maestro van Zweden as the new Music Director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

The Gala, themed Mahler's Vienna, will showcase the talents of party planner extraordinaire, Todd Fiscus, who will transform the lobby into a glittering Fantasy Ball set back in Vienna circa 1902, drawing color inspiration from the paintings of Gustav Klimt and capturing the happiest times of composer Gustav Mahler's life: a thriving career, a new lakeside villa and a marriage to the prettiest girl in Vienna, Alma Schindler. Guests will savor a sumptuous seated dinner in Mahler's Vienna ... a promised feast for both the palette and the eyes! As special dinner entertainment, the world renowned Europe-based Roby Lakatos gypsy band will serenade guests, then will perform a repertoire tailored just for the Gala ... one that just might coax Jaap for an encore violin performance! Finish the evening with Viennese coffee, pastries and cocktails at an exclusively swank after-dinner coffee lounge and bar.

2008 marks AT&T's eighth consecutive year of support for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra AT&T Gala, which benefits the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and its many programs including the classical and pops concerts, adult and youth education and community outreach initiatives.
