Tuesday, October 14  –  Thursday, October 16

ETTAC's Toy Tech 6:30 p.m.  –  8:00 p.m.

The East Tennessee Technology Access Center needs new battery operated toys to give to over 100 children with disabilities in 24 counties who cannot use their hands to play with typical toys. These toys will be rewired so that they can be connected to special switches for the children to press. ETTAC’s elves need time to do this before the holiday distribution party December 8th.

ETTAC will be conducting two trainings for volunteers to learn how to adapt toys on Tuesday, October 14th and Thursday, October 16th evenings.

Space is limited. If you are interested, please call (865) 219-0130 for more information.

Please drop off toys by October 14th at ETTAC’s Knoxville office at 4918 N. Broadway. ETTAC is open Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm.

The East Tennessee Technology Access Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities reach their potential for learning, working, speaking and living through the use of assistive technology (anything that helps the functional capabilities of people with disabilities). ETTAC is a designated Microsoft Accessibility Resource Center. At no cost, local businesses and individuals can visit ETTAC, experiment with Windows Vista, Office 2007, Internet Explorer 7, the Comfort Mouse and Comfort Keyboard. Free CD's are also available with Windows Vista demos and tutorials, and Windows Vista accessibility tutorials and demonstrations. Organizations such as senior centers, libraries, retirement communities or other organizations with computer labs may request a free training on the accessibility options built into Windows operating system. Over the years, the use of assistive technology has proven effective in enabling people with disabilities to set and reach goals which otherwise may not have been possible. ETTAC is truly a place where disabilities become possibilities.
