The Bay Colony Dog Show, one of the country’s largest American Kennel Club (AKC) dog events, is back at the Bayside for four days of family-friendly fun.
The show runs Thursday, December 4 through Sunday, December 7, 2008 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Sponsored by PEDIGREE brand dog foods, the Bay Colony Dog Show offers the area’s best showcase of holiday shopping, pedigreed pooches and family-friendly entertainment, with over 1,750 pedigree pooches (155 breeds) competing each day for “Best In Show” honors and AKC titles. In addition to fast-paced agility and fascinating obedience trials, this year’s family-friendly show features activities and shopping planned for dog lovers of all ages. Demonstrations include “Meet the Breeds” interactive areas, working dog demonstrations, a rescue parade, AKC coloring books for children, and many more activities. Looking for the perfect holiday gift that you won’t find in your local pet store? Dog lovers will be in holiday shopping heaven with over 50 high-quality concession booths displaying every type of gift imaginable for that pampered pooch. Admission is $12 for adults and seniors, and $7 for children. Parking is $12 and tickets available for purchase at the Bayside box office day-of-show only. For schedules or ring times, visit www.baycolonydogshow.com after Thanksgiving. The event hotline recording is 508-533-1153. The Bayside Exposition Center is handicapped and MBTA accessible (Red Line, JFK/UMASS stop), and is located off Rte. 93 South (exit 15 from the south; exit 14 from Rte. 93 North) at 200 Mount Vernon St., Dorchester, MA 02125. The Bay Colony Dog Show is organized and run by Eastern Dog Club, Ladies’ Dog Club, Middlesex County Kennel Club, and four days of agility trials by Yankee Golden Retriever Club. A nonprofit organization, the Bay Colony Dog Show proceeds benefit the Scholarship Fund at Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Breeder Referral Services and Angell Memorial Animal Hospital.
