CSA Season 2008
Delvin Farms is now accepting registrations for the 2008 Season. The shares consist of 25 weeks starting in May and ending late October. Each share consist of 8 to 10 varieties of certified organic vegetables and fruit harvested the day you receive it, literally hours old from the field to your table. It’s washed and ready for the children to eat on the way home!

The Franklin Farmers' Market
The Franklin Farmers' Market has all the good stuff you crave because of what it is: A market made up of family farmers, selling fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers and farm goods. There's no trucked-in produce from Florida or out west. These are local farmers, selling what they have grown, as it ripens during Tennessee's long growing season. And because it is a seasonal market, the variety of veggies and goods fresh from the farms increases and changes each week.

Volunteer: Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
Make a Difference in a Child's Life! Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Nashville is recruiting volunteers to help some of the 2,300 child victims of abuse and neglect in this community. For the past 24 years, CASA's mission has been to expedite the process through which these children are found permanent, safe homes. CASA volunteers serve as the eyes and ears of the court in abuse and neglect cases. Volunteers should be at least 21 years of age, have no criminal history, and have a strong interest in protecting the rights and needs of children.

Volunteer: International Newcomers' Academy
PENCIL Foundation is looking for volunteers who are interested in assisting some of Nashville’s newest students. The International Newcomers’ Academy of Metro Schools is a program that focuses on the needs of students who have little or no knowledge of English and have extremely limited literacy skills in their native language. Most of the current students are Somali and Somali Bantu who have been living in refugee camps and have not had the opportunity to attend school.

Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee needs classroom volunteers every school year (right now until May). Volunteers are trained and given materials to work with children K-12 on the concepts of staying in school, being financially literate and being workforce ready. The teachers stay in the classroom with the volunteer, making it a great partnership and a great way to involve the community in the education of future workers. We hold information sessions several times a week, so let Travonda Taylor know when you would like to come see what we are all about.

You Can Help Make A Difference! Volunteers are an essential part of the Nashville Rescue Mission's team. Since 1954, Mission volunteers have helped change lives in every capacity from serving over 452,000 meals each year and building playgrounds to providing thousands of hours of medical care and tutoring to Recovery Program clients. Although 1,000 volunteers serve at the Mission on average per month, we continue to have a numerous volunteer opportunities!

Saddle Up! provides children with disabilities the opportunity to grow and develop through recreational activities with horses. Saddle Up! was established 15 years ago to provide therapeutic horseback riding to children between the ages of four and eighteen in the Middle Tennessee area. Located on thirty four acres of beautiful countryside in Williamson County the program provides therapy as much for the volunteers as students. Even though Safe Haven Family Shelter has been around for a number of years, many people are still unaware of the organization and the volunteer opportunities available. SHFS is in dire need of volunteers. The Arts At Safe Haven & Childcare Volunteers: The Arts at Safe Haven is designed to enrich the lives of our families through the visual arts, drama and music. The primary goal is to strengthen the bond between parents and children while they engage in an expressive activity. Volunteers will lead an art, drama or music project for families or assist leaders in those projects by way of childcare or just an extra pair of hands.

Become a member of the Volunteer Review Team responsible for reviewing grant proposals from non-profits seeking funding from United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, interviewing agency staff and deciding which programs will be funded in the 2008-09 funding year. Total time commitment is approx. 15-20 hours between February-May 2008 and then 6-10 hours for the remainder of the year. Training begins in January 2008.
