Piecing Together an Era: An Exhibit of 19th-Century Quilts
During the summer of 2008, the interior of the Morris-Butler House will be adorned with beautiful 19th century quilts of a wide variety of patterns, including Crazy quilts, an Indiana political quilt, Delectable Mountains, Wholecloth, Economy Patch, Windmill, Flying Geese, Log Cabin, Texas Star, Princess Feather, Drunkard's Path, Whig Rose, Tree of Life, Pieced Basket, Burgoyne Surrounded, Album quilts, Jacob's Ladder, and a Hexagon quilt!

Mark Twain Novel Tea
Bring your copies of Mark Twains’ classic tales, Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, and The Prince and the Pauper to the Morris-Butler House for an afternoon of literature, tea, and fun! We’ll have a book discussion led by IUPUI English instructor, Hannah Haas, discussing the novels, the characters, and the author’s unique life, while enjoying delicious flavored tea and an elaborate sampling of food featured in Twains’ work, including vanilla ice cream, raspberry pie, chicken salad sandwiches, fresh fruit, buttermilk biscuits with jam, and more!

Civil War History Camp
History comes alive at the Morris-Butler House! Experience five days of fun this summer during our Civil War Camp. Learn about the Civil War, the lives of soldiers and citizens, and take part in a variety of Civil War activities, including the making of hardtack, pokesacks, musketballs, candles, signaling flags, and an end of the week camp feast.

Each year, across the nation, one event brings together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer. That event is the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®. It’s a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives.

Learn how to date your antique quilts! Nationally recognized quilt expert, Xenia Cord, teaches participants to note how colors, color combinations, fabrics used, cultural and geographic influences, and patterns help to locate quilts in time and place. Bring your pre-1950 quilts from home to be dated by Xenia Cord herself!
