If It Glows
If you’re looking to kill energy vampires and curb your utility costs, make sure to shut off, power down, and unplug anything that glows. While ambient light can be nice – and even set a mood – all of our red and blue and green indicator bulbs can also be a drain on our electricity bill. TVs, video game systems, computers, and kitchen gadgets might have these little lights that don’t serve much of a purpose. Our recommendation? Plug them into a smart power strip like this one that has a handy switch to cut the current when not in use.
