Keep The River

Our waterways don’t get cleaned by themselves, and they don’t stay clean without dedicated action. The first Riverkeeper patrol boat was launched by military veterans and fishermen who mobilized in 1966 to challenge polluters on the Hudson River. That Riverkeeper’s contribution to the Hudson’s amazing recovery inspired the growth of 177 autonomous “Waterkeeper” organizations all across the world. Waterkeepers patrol local waterways, respond to citizen complaints, and enforce environmental laws. Find the Waterkeeper organization nearest you. If there’s not one near you, turn your kids into their own little Riverkeeper by working with your local watershed to start your own.
