If spring cleaning has you cleaning out pantries and medicine cabinets, be careful about what you’re doing with those expired medicines. While it’s easy to toss them (into the wastebasket or the toilet), hang on to them instead. Call your pharmacist to see if they can make sure your old tablets are properly disposed of. Or, take them to a local household hazardous waste center, which will also make sure they don’t fall into the wrong hands or enter our waterways and hurt precious wildlife. The extra effort will make sure that your prescriptions are only used by you.
