No More Name-Calling
Today wraps up No Name-Calling Week, an initiative to remind all of us that name-calling has no place at school, at home, or in our community. Many companies are helping to promote the idea, including Barnes & Noble, which has several books to help address bullying among young people.
If you need resources of any kind, especially to prevent or deal with bullying and harassment, visit the No Name-Calling Week website. The bigger idea, of course, is that we don’t only think about this and change our behavior for a week, but rather that we use this week to set in motion habits and values that last all year long.
Your weekend assignment
Hold your tongue when you feel the urge to name-call. Whether it’s to someone’s face or you’re about to bad mouth someone behind their back, stop the name-calling.
