Sure, it may be hot and muggy, but summer is the perfect time to enjoy your local park system. Most of the time, local parks are like libraries, referees, and high-speed Internet: we don’t notice them until they do something wrong or disappear. This year’s theme for National Park and Recreation Month is “Celebrate, Advocate, Recreate!” The point being that unless you check out your local recreation options for yourself, you’ll never know how great they are. Make a point this week to enjoy a hiking trail, a greenway, or a picnic area. Invite a friend along, too.
