PENCIL Foundation
PENCIL Foundation responds to the needs of Metro Schools by linking community resources of volunteers and materials with Nashville Public Schools. PENCIL matches over 500 businesses and organizations with Metro schools as PENCIL Partners, distributes school supplies for teachers through LP PENCIL Box, and trains volunteers to work with at-risk students.

- Volunteer: International Newcomers' Academy
- PENCIL Foundation is looking for volunteers who are interested in assisting some of Nashville’s newest students. The International Newcomers’ Academy of Metro Schools is a program that focuses on the needs of students who have little or no knowledge of English and have extremely limited literacy skills in their native language. Most of the current students are Somali and Somali Bantu who have been living in refugee camps and have not had the opportunity to attend school.

- Math Partners, an in-school tutorial for fifth- and sixth-graders in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, seeks volunteers to work with groups of two to four students once a week for eight weeks or more during the school year.
