Christmas is (still) not your birthday, but we understand that gift-giving to kids is a timely tradition. Just make them safe for their eyes, since it is Safe Toy and Gifts month.

• Spend half the money you did last year on the kids and the other half at an Angel Tree

• Buy age-appropriate toys

• Read warnings/instructions

• Avoid toys with dangerous edges

• Check toys for damages

• Buy sustainable gifts

• Look for “ASTM” (meets American Society for Testing and Materials standards)

• Avoid toys that shoot or have fly-off parts

• Check for recalls
