While the eyes of the world are currently looking at South Africa because of soccer (football) games being played there, here’s another reason to pay attention. The Bicycle Portraits Project aims to compile pictures and stories of everyday South Africans and their bikes (and compile them in book form). For some of us in the Western world, biking is recreational. Cars are much more utilitarian and that’s how we get from A to B. But, looking at all of these pictures, it really makes you wonder just how far you could go without gas, living life on two wheels.
