Where else can you find nearly 20,000 people dressed like tomatoes celebrating community, art and that delicious vegetable – wait, or is it a fruit? The Tomato Art Fest returns Saturday, August 14!
The Fest’s motto “The Tomato…A uniter not a divider…bringing together fruits and vegetables” grows stronger every year, bringing more and more folks together! Every year Brett and Meg MacFadyen (founders of Tomato Art Fest) organize one of the East Nashville community’s biggest art and music festivals in the area’s Historic Five Points. Oh yeah, did we mention it’s also FREE!? How COOL is that!?
What started as a Tomato Art Show at Art & Invention Gallery has grown into an all-day event attracting thousands of creative, like minded folks who come to the festival to enjoy live music, tomato themed art, fashion, libations perfected by some of the festival goers in the Bloody Mary Contest and of course the juicy TOMATOES! There’s FREE fun for every age.
This year, the Tomato Art Fest will donate $1 out of every $5 collected through PAYPAL on their website to flood relief. Tomato Art Fest will divide the contributions between The East Nashville Flood Relief and The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
“After the flooding in May, I know we were all touched by the way our community came together to help one another during one of the most difficult times in the history of this city,” said Meg MacFadyen, event co-founder and co-owner of Art & Invention Gallery. “We want to celebrate Nashville through the tomato and community as people from all over Middle Tennessee unite in East Nashville.”
Be sure to celebrate the tomato and support the East Nashville Community!
