We have already written about the concept of phantom power, which is also known as vampire power. Even when you’re not using them, those appliances of yours are sucking energy out of your home and increasing your electric bill (click here for a breakdown). Cut your carbon emissions by unplugging everything in your guest room. Most of us have an extra bedroom that we rarely use, so keeping a TV and four lamps plugged in all the time doesn’t make much sense. Besides, you’ll have plenty of notice when Aunt Edna decides to stop by for a visit, right?
