We Can All Change the World Together
However, this time the rules of the game are a little different. You see, it is not enough for teenagers to do the grunt-work; we need help, and we’ll take it anywhere we can.
Today, November 20, 2009, I propose that adults need to get off their butts and get to it!
The name of the game is UNDER WRAPS. The service project, founded by Brentwood’s own, Nate and Ian Kukowski serves as a portal for the American Red Cross to collect blankets throughout the community to aid the residents suffering from the destruction of tornadoes and other disasters in the past and future.
“Our plan is to collect blankets throughout the community at several drop-off locations. After cleaning and packing them, we would deliver them to our local Red Cross agency for later distribution.” – Kukowski Brothers
The Mission:
- Look in your closets and pull a few blankets out that are gently used and toss them in the wash.
- Drive over the numerous drop off stations that will be situated are locations such as The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Center, The Brentwood Library, The Brentwood YMCA, Woodland Middle School, Sunset Middle School, and place your blankets the box.
Easy as 1, 2…no really – it’s the easiest 2-step process to help those less fortunate.
If blankets are too difficult, no worries, there are MANY alternatives:
- Need help asking dry cleaners to donate cleaning services
- Need large packing boxes for blanket storage
- Finding suitable drop-off locations where patrons can easily access them! (You could ask your own churches, high schools, etc to announce the event/drop-off locations.
- Donations to help cover the cost of dry-cleaning and printing fliers.
It is unknown when a tragedy will strike, but it is imperative for us to work together to help those in need.
As Cool People Care boldly proclaims, “Got 5 Minutes?”
