When your kids finish their juice box, yogurt, or soda, clean it out and let them put it into the recycling bin. They will learn at a young age the importance of recycling. Explain that for every ton of paper recycled, 7,000 gallons of water, 380 gallons of oil and enough electricity to power an average house for six months is saved. Also, let them know a TV can run for six hours by recycling one aluminum can. Putting it into perspective for them and making it fun to recycle teaches them its importance and they’ll do it themselves!
