When Birds Are in Heat

Holiday week is here! And so are days on end of endless food. Follow these tips when it’s time to heat up your holiday dinner (if you’re not going vegetarian, that is):

• If you don’t have one yet, choose a better bird.

• Don’t continuously run water over your bird to defrost it. Instead, soak it in a bowl of warm water, or go ahead and put it in the fridge now.

• [Don't open that oven door][] every 15 minutes. Get a meat thermometer and flick on the oven light to check and see if it’s done.
